The Challenge Of Healthy Aging in America

The Challenge of Healthy Aging In America

healthy agiing in americaAn anonomous message to a friend: We have a real and verifiable challenge when it comes to healthy aging in America. I am so sorry your parent is not feeling well.  I know you’re not feeling well either.  In the past you have reacted with disbelief when I told you that perhaps I could help.  Your comment was that you trusted the doctors.  How is that working out for you?  You have personally been ill for years.  Are the doctors helping or is it perhaps that there are things they don’t know?

And your mom, no surprise, predictable!  You and your mom are killing yourself slowly, but most assuredly, with your diet.  Much of the food supply in America is compromised so severely as to barely resemble food.  Pesticides, herbicides, GMO’s and sugar in heavily processed food are taking its toll daily.  Look at America.   In recent years the disease rates have skyrocketed.  Cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney and liver disease are rampant and the answer from medicine, which is completely controlled by big pharma, is pop another pill.

The Flexner Report

In 1910 a comprehensive report called the Flexner report was published.  This report was commissioned by John Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie and sought to standardize medical education in The US.  Flexner did have immense value in the standardization and elevation of medical teaching but, one of the (probably intended) side effects of the Flexner Report was a strong bias toward patented drugs and away from anything that could be construed as a natural cure or homeopathic medicine.  If it wasn’t patented by a drug company, it was considered quackery.

The State Of The Medical Profession

Healthy aging in America requires a fundmental change in our approach to health care.  Doctors are primarily trained by Big Pharma.  The pharmaceutical companies fund the research at major hospitals and universities and often sit on the board of directors so they can “oversee” how their money is being spent for research.   So naturally, the schools teach what the drug companies want the doctors to know and the hospitals administer what the drug companies tell them to.  It is really that simple.

To a great extent drugs are not designed nor intended to cure anything.  They are designed to control symptoms and create lifetime customers.

The State Of The Food Industry

Healthy aging in America requires eating healthy, nutritious food. Sadly the food industry has also been compromised in America.  See for example the article about weedkiller in cereal . Packaged foods are loaded with additives, preservatives and sugar.  Many of these are known carcinogens, neurotoxins, hormone disruptors and just plain ugly stuff (technical term).  Sadly in my opinion, one of the worst frauds ever perpetrated on the American people is the low fat, non fat business.  The food industry removes all the good fats (the ones your body actually needs) and replaces them with chemicals and sugar to restore flavor.  Look at obesity in America and you will see the result of low fat, high sugar intake diets.

Many people think if it is on the shelf in the super market, it must be safe.  Wrong!  In the 1930’s the government quietly gave self-regulation to the industry.  Since then, the chemical giants, such as Monsanto and others, have quietly reduced cost and increased profit by using cheap toxic chemicals in our food and personal care products.  Furthermore the government agencies are under extreme pressure from powerful lobby groups who promote the self-interest of the financial giants, and not of the consuming public.

The Rise Of Disease In America

In the last 50 years over 80,000 new chemicals have been introduced in America.  With minor exception, no human testing has been done.  There is no agency with the money the manpower, and the time to test 80,000 chemicals for their effects on health and longevity of human life.  So the operating model is it is safe until people begin to die.  Sadly, even when people die, it is controversial because it is hard to prove cause and effect so the chemical industry continues unregulated and the disease rate climbs astronomically.  The graph below is from the move “Stink” and is an example of the apparent correlation between the growth of disease in the US and new chemicals being introduced.

disease and toxins

I am trained as an engineer and I can understand the argument that this does not represent good science.  There is no control group, no double blind studies etc,  but I also contend that no reasonable person could look at this data and state in all honesty, there is no possible correlation.

Life Expectancy

Life expectancy has been continuing to improve in recent centuries as disease is controlled.  But interesting enough in pre pollution days, biblical times there is substantial evidence that life expectancies were much longer than today, perhaps 100’s of years.  Back then there was little disease, no pesticides, no environmental toxins and natural remedies were used to treat and cure ailments.  Homeopathic medicine was practiced widely.

Without getting too scientific, it is felt today that the human genome has at least 120 years of capable life based on telomere shortening.  But we are not getting anywhere near that.  Why?

It is thought that our children are the first generation in a long time who will have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.  Why is that?

Simple! Toxins in our environment are making us sick and big Pharma is prolonging illness!

The Aging Process

Many people spend their last 10 years sick with a debilitating disease or in a rest home.  Many end up in a rest home because they cannot get on and off the toilet without assistance.  These diseases of old age are not necessary.  They are the end product of a slow but steady poisoning of our bodies with toxins and sugar coupled with lack of exercise and stress in everyday life.  None of this is necessary, all can be avoided.  The choice is yours!

What Is The Solution?

Again simple! We all know what we need to do.  The formula for healthy aging in America is eat good healthy food,  get the right amount of exercise and the right amount of rest daily.  In addition we must be proactive to remove toxins as much as possible from our everyday lives.

It’s not as hard as you might think.  But it begins with eliminating packaged food and sugar in our diet and eating as close to nature as is reasonable.  There are simple steps each of us can take to help insure our health into old age and improve our chances of longevity.

The Horse And The Pond

It has been said, “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink”  I have brought you to the pond of life, the fountain of youth.  I have given you a glimpse of the elixir that can make you healthier, help you to live longer and feel better than you have ever felt before in your life.  The choice is yours and yours alone!

You Are The Solution

You can easily and effectively and inexpensively begin to change out your household products for safer, less toxic alternatives.  For example,  just changing out your toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner can reduce your morning chemical intake by up to 75 toxic substances.  We all want our home to be as safe as possible.  Shouldn’t your home be the safest place on the planet for you and your family.

Toxins And Our Environment

Since 1970, over 80,000 new chemicals have been introduced and are soaking our environment, our children and you.  And yes! the FDA and EPA allow it.  These industries are, to a great extent, unregulated.   To learn more about toxins in your home and body and your children, check out The Toxic Truth. The magnitude of the problem will astound you.
